Shear tab connection
Shear tab connection
(OP)
I am using AISC table 10-1 to determine the number of bolts that i need for my connections. I have determined using 3/4" bolt diameter with 3/8" angle with standard hole type. For thread condition is has "SC Class A" and SC Class B" can anyone tell me where i can find an explanation of the two so i can determine with one i will have and determine my capacities. Thanks you

and FYI the thread condition is talked about in the bolts section of the code (chapter 7) with design discussed in section J of the spec (13th edition).

structSU10- Yes that is what i plan to do is work a hand design of a ALL-BOLTED DOUBLE ANGLE CONNECTION to get a feel for it and use the tables to develop a sort of schedule of capacity vs # of bolts
Thanks for your help.

the word "group" relates to bolt type... Group A bolts are A325, Group B bolts are A490.
This is all covered in the manual.
