Soil Bearing Pressure

Soil Bearing Pressure

Soil Bearing Pressure

(OP)
Hi guys!

is there a good source out there regarding calculation of soil bearing pressure (Bi-axial)?
Im looking for a source that would be applicable for all regular foundation shapes, e.g. square, octagon, cirlce, n-sides, etc.

Thanks!+

RE: Soil Bearing Pressure

Any good geotechnical text will show you this....Das, Bowles, Sowers, Terzhagi and Peck, etc.

RE: Soil Bearing Pressure

Not sure why anyone is concerned about minor dimension variables, since there is so much variation in behavior in soils to start with; meaning degree of precision in this work generally is pretty low. I find making a calculation for bearing, settlement, etc. is reasonable if you use the same area in your example as the area within the fancy footing dimensions.

RE: Soil Bearing Pressure

about 6 yeas ago there was some post about fancy shapes that brought a lot of members in. the consensus was what oldestguy said

RE: Soil Bearing Pressure

i want to ask how to use the USDA classification system? how to get the percentage by looking at it with the sieve analysis, i will attach it for clarification.
