HEA200-HEA700 Bolted Connection

HEA200-HEA700 Bolted Connection

HEA200-HEA700 Bolted Connection

(OP)
Hello. I need a bolted, simple connection between a HEA200 and a HEA700 beam. Both beams must have the same T.O.S level. I have tried with notching of the flanges of the HEA200 beam, but since the flange+radius+fire coating of the HEA700 beam is so thick, the web of the HEA200 beam becomes to small. Now Im trying to weld som kind of bigger web-plate to the HEA200-beam, but Im not really satisfied so far. Do anyone have any suggestions? The shear force is about 70 kN, the length of the HEA200 beam is 3 meters, and the other side should also be bolted (to an IPE600).

Thankful for any ideas. :)

RE: HEA200-HEA700 Bolted Connection

Your description leaves a lot to the imagination. We can’t see it from here. Why not provide a sketch with some dimensions, loads, etc.? You could maybe weld a seat angle to the web of the deeper beam, for the smaller beam to sit on.

RE: HEA200-HEA700 Bolted Connection

Or an end plate on the smaller beam, bolted to the web of the big beam. How much depth do you have left in the 200 beam? If not much, you could add a stiffener under the bottom flange.
