Hi,

The problem is that the MAWPs on API 650 Storage tanks are too low to be able to utilize conventional conservation/emergency vents.

It was suggested by the client to increase the allowable working pressure and lower the operating pressure of the flare/vapor combustor header.

Can anyone please advise how to approach this problem.

Thanks!

A review of Atmospheric Storage Tank conservation vents and emergency vents from tank appurtanance companys -- Shand & Jurs; Protectoseal to name 2 -- will show that they are available down to 1/2 ounce per square inch. A 3/16" thick steel roof weighs about 0.7 osi.

Are you dealing with existing tanks, or designing new tanks?
