API 650 Tanks MAWP is tool low for conventional emergency vents

API 650 Tanks MAWP is tool low for conventional emergency vents

(OP)
Hi,

The problem is that the MAWPs on API 650 Storage tanks are too low to be able to utilize conventional conservation/emergency vents.

I am trying to re-rate the tanks to increase the allowable working pressure and lower the operating pressure of the flare/vapor combustor header.

Can anyone please assist.

Thanks!

RE: API 650 Tanks MAWP is tool low for conventional emergency vents

You're in the wrong forum -- API 650 tanks go in "Storage Tank Engineering"

And a review of Atmospheric Storage Tank conservation vents and emergency vents from tank appurtanance companys -- Shand & Jurs; Protectoseal to name 2 -- will show that they are available down to 1/2 ounce per square inch. A 3/16" thick steel roof weighs about 0.7 osi.
