Ontario Building Code Seismic Restraints

Ontario Building Code Seismic Restraints

Ontario Building Code Seismic Restraints

(OP)
Hi

I saw a thread with the same subject from July last year regarding using seismic restraints for piping, ducting etc. I'm dealing with a similar situation and I was wondering if anyone knew if seismic restraints for post disaster buildings applied to all parts of Ontario. Basically a renovation in a hospital (piping, boiler install etc.)

I know Ottawa Valley must have seismic restraints, though I was not sure regarding the rest of Ontatrio.

Anyone who could help, please let me know.

thanks

RE: Ontario Building Code Seismic Restraints

I believe the new code (OBC 2012, effective as of 1 Jan 2014) does not discriminate as to area for the seismic restraints to building contents requirements.

I think you're stuck with it as well, despite not being in Ottawa and surrounds...
