Distance standard between KOD and Flare Stack

Distance standard between KOD and Flare Stack

Distance standard between KOD and Flare Stack

(OP)
Hi,
Except radiant heat and toxicity, are there any other standards for flare stack distance specifying between KOD and flare stack, please share your experience. This case is in desert area for oil company, no population around this field exists.
Thanks

RE: Distance standard between KOD and Flare Stack

Just my own opinion, but I do not think there is a minimum distance requirement.
I have seen KO Drums located 200 to 300 feet away from the Stack, I have seen the KO Drum built into the bottom of the Stack and I have seen underground KO Drum Designs for locations close to the Stack. But I have never seen anything in writing dictating a minimum separation distance.

prognosis: Lead or Lag

RE: Distance standard between KOD and Flare Stack

I would suggest that the drum is located beyond the 4,7 kW/m2 zone (can remember the number in BTU/sq ft/hr or water ever US unit is used in API) - this would make service & inspection easier but i agree with pennpiper that there is no requirement here.
