ESFR AND MULTIPLE ROW RACKS

ESFR AND MULTIPLE ROW RACKS

ESFR AND MULTIPLE ROW RACKS

(OP)
Good day all

With regards to Table 16.2.3.1 of NFPA 13, if one has a ceiling height of 12.2m and a maximum storage height of 7.6m one can apply E.S.F.R sprinkler protection to class 1 to 4 products stored in multiple row racks.

Now under the definition of multiple row racks refer 3.9.3.7.3 of NFPA 13

3.9.3.7.3 Multiple-Row Racks. Racks greater than 12 ft (3.7 m) in depth or single- or double-row racks separated by aisles less than 3.5 ft (1.1 m) wide having an overall width greater than 12 ft (3.7 m).

If i use a K 240 (metric k-factor) head with a minimum starting pressure of 360kPa, am i correct in saying that no in rack sprinklers are required?

RE: ESFR AND MULTIPLE ROW RACKS

You are correct. No in rack sprinkler required.

Many other variables shall apply to use ESFR, as ceiling slope that can not be exceeded, taking care of obstructions, etc.

RE: ESFR AND MULTIPLE ROW RACKS

(OP)
All other variables have been satisfied.

Is there a limitation with regards to the maximum rack width?

RE: ESFR AND MULTIPLE ROW RACKS

I guess they are not limited in width but I am not sure.

RE: ESFR AND MULTIPLE ROW RACKS

Gooda day!

I think, as long as you can satisfy the requirement of a single row, double row, multiple row rack arrangements, then you are good to go to follow the table 16.2.3.1

hope it helps,
