Pump shaft material is ASTM A240 S32760 and is damaged during operation. We have an approved weld procedure from the pump supplier. Can the shaft be repair welded and machined to bring it back to the original condition? Are there any precautions to be taken while welding duplex ss? or
Is it advisable to replace the shafts?

It is critical to know that no detrimental intermetallics were formed during the procedure. These would hurt both toughness and corrosion resistance.

EdStainless, The pump vendor has supplied his welding procedure and not a repair procedure.
Metengr, The WPS supplied does have notch toughness test but not a corrosion test included.

You can evaluate the structure by either corrosion testing or by low temp impact testing.
You get the same information.
