Gas turbine sychronizing breaker opens immediately its synchronizes

Gas turbine sychronizing breaker opens immediately its synchronizes

Gas turbine sychronizing breaker opens immediately its synchronizes

(OP)
Hi all,

I am a visiting engineer at frame 9e power plant. The gas turbine starts and accelerates to full speed no load and whenever they about synchronizing, the breaker closes and opens after some few seconds.

The mass flow rate of the distillate fuel fluctuates and never keeps increasing. It decreases and increases.

The main fuel pump pressure is stable and the individual pressures to the combustion canisters are also stable.

The exhaust spread is almost uniform.

RE: Gas turbine sychronizing breaker opens immediately its synchronizes

If the turbine runs, the breaker opening would indicate a electrical issue when synchronising.

I don't think this is the correct forum for this question, you'll probably get a better response elsewhere.

RE: Gas turbine sychronizing breaker opens immediately its synchronizes

You should be able to set up the control system Historian to see what is initiating the breaker closure and opening. Most can timestamp at 0.1 second intervals. Trends of key turbine data will help too, especially if cross-referenced to the software logic. What engine and controller are you using?

And yes, this is probably the wrong place for this question. Try forum666: Engine & turbine engineering, although the answer will likely be similar to the above.
