Impact of Drag Reducing Agent on Interface Generation

Impact of Drag Reducing Agent on Interface Generation

Hello,
Does anyone know if the use of Drag Reducing Agent (DRA) in a multiproduct (diesel and gasoline) pipeline will have an impact on the amount of interface generated between dissimilar batches?
Thanks

RE: Impact of Drag Reducing Agent on Interface Generation

I have not used drag reducing agents in multiproduct pipelines.
Presumably the faster flowrate would tend to reduce the interface volumes.
It would be interesting to hear more about it.

RE: Impact of Drag Reducing Agent on Interface Generation

I have looked at multi- phase DRA systems before and this has never been mentioned before.

From what I know about DRA systems I can't see why DRA would affect the interface size, but as BI says, the higher flow rate should reduce I/F size.

You would need to really talk to an operating company to see what their experience is.

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

Thanks for the response guys. I have made an enquiry with a DRA vendor and will post any findings.
Cheers
