Catia V5 Exams

Catia V5 Exams

Catia V5 Exams

(OP)
Hi All

Friday just gone I took 3 Catia exams, Part Design, Assembly Design and Surfacing. Unfortunately and embarrassingly I failed all 3

Has anyone got any advice and or best way to perhaps revise for the 3 exams somewhat?
I appreciate it's somewhat a vague and silly question but I really do not wish to fail for the second time round

Best Regards

RE: Catia V5 Exams

the course are shaped based on DS courses + some experience.

So get DS training would be first advice

Do not underestimate the power of experience

You have to be REALLY smart to pass the test right after taking the course.

RE: Catia V5 Exams

From what I've seen from the sample exam they try to trick you with stupid little questions. I think it's a real miss that the exam is a multiple choice format instead of actually having you work in CATIA. The Solidworks exams are done inside of Solidworks and it's quite a bit more relevant because of that, I think

Plus the CATIA exams are really, really pricey. Certainly for that they are.

Webbo1981,
The Companion tool is pretty helpful in prepping for the exam.
I found my some automation experience helped me most.
Because you really need to know how something is modeled if you're going to successfully apply any automation against it.

KevinDeSmet,
I hear all the new exams run by DS will be hands-on sessions.
They are pretty pricey; but, you can get a discount in certain situations.
(I hear the COE conference will offer the V6 exam for $99.)

here is a sample of the questions for such an exam. in some ways it's good and in some ways it's bad (encourages blind memorization of random icons for example, instead of the theory such as q9), just like the default DS training (the drilling machine one).

advanced exams are already taken with an instructor present.

Thanks all for your responses

RE: Catia V5 Exams

Hi Webbo..
I have got five certifications in CATIA..
You just need to concentrate on Catia Documentaion which you get along with CATIA.
Also you should know every option in a dialog box while working on catia.
Dialog box means window you get while creating Pad, fillet, pattern or anything like this.
There are so many things or options in dialog box, you should know to pass these exams

All the best..

Thank you Rangrao

I have retaken Part Design exam and passed, now onto Assembly

Thanks

RE: Catia V5 Exams

the V5 ones or V6? how were they, more of a memorize-all assessment or useful? the fact that there are no live exercises (like in solidworks test) isn't good news imo.

RE: Catia V5 Exams

My Part Design exam was in V5

The exam is based on your knowledge of Catia. This means you have no idea of what questions you are going to be asked. There is no revise as such. It helped me in away to fail the first exam so I knew what type of questions I was going to be asked next time round. All I can advise is use the Part Design workbench, or what ever relevant workbench it, as much as you can before going for the exam

Yes exactly like those. Not ideal no. I have my Assembly Design Exam coming up soon which I am not looking forward too

RE: Catia V5 Exams

Hi Webbo,
Assembly design exam is difficult one among all specialist level exams. Study carefully regarding use of compass, constraints relationships...

Hi Rangraop

Yes I remember the Assembly Design being difficult. I need to brush up on constraints relationships I have to say. They what caught me out last time.
