ASM Open from Explorer Problems

ASM Open from Explorer Problems

ASM Open from Explorer Problems

(OP)
I have gotten into the habit of double clicking on the SWX file name in MS Explorer and opening files up this way.  Recently I have not been able to do this with assembly files, no matter how large or small.  I get an error saying Can't Find File Blah Blah Blah, Check Path and Filename etc.
I can still open part files this way, just not assemblies. It seems to have started happening around the same time I loaded the Edrawings 2.0, but I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.  I guess I can uninstall Edrawings, but I was wondering it anyone else has this problem.

Thanks,
Lori

RE: ASM Open from Explorer Problems

diamondcat,
What happens if all the files and part models are in the same directory?
When you test this, make sure that Referenced Documents in System Options is blank.

All of the required files were/are in the same directory and the area under Reference Documents was/is blank.

Any other suggestions?

RE: ASM Open from Explorer Problems

I remember an issue like that in some version of SP.
Maybe you should check from Subscription Suport.

Thanks I will try that

RE: ASM Open from Explorer Problems

You should also check the "open" setting associated with the .sldasm file type under Windows.  Go to "tools - folder options" and scroll down to the SWX file types.  Compare what is in the open action for part and drawing files to what is in assembly files.  If this setting was changed it would definitely cause the behaviour you describe.

Thank you So Much! That was it.
Sldasm had SDVIEWER listed as the application whereas the sldprt and slddrw had SLDWRKS listed as the application.
I switched it to SLDWRKS and it is working now.
It must have switched when I loaded on Viewer.
I would have never found that, thanks.

Lori
