SolidWorks 2014, 3dconnexion, Wireless SpaceNavigator, Zoom in/out Preference

SolidWorks 2014, 3dconnexion, Wireless SpaceNavigator, Zoom in/out Preference

SolidWorks 2014, 3dconnexion, Wireless SpaceNavigator, Zoom in/out Preference

I have loaded 2014 and downladed the latest drivers for my SpaceNavigator. My preference is to set-up the zoom in/out to UP(lift the puck) / DOWN(squash the puck). Either that option is gone, or I just can't find it in the settings menu. I understand that the menu is application/context sensitive. The irony is that when CHROME is active, I can get to the settings I need... But when SolidWorks is active, I can't. I just discovered that by accident. I suppose I can eventually re-wire my brain to drive it like this, but I don't wanna. Anybody else seeing this?

Also, here's one of those smily-face things the kids are into these days... wiggle

Thanks...
Jack

I got this reply from tech support...

Quote:

You are correct the new driver has changed and it does not offer the advanced settings. This was done by design. The programmers removed the advanced settings so users would use the default axis directions.

Try this it may work for you:

Close all applications except Solidworks. Then close Solidworks, next go to the 3DConnexion properties. At this point, you have all of the traditional advanced options available. Change the Zoom direction.
Save
Reopen Soildworks this should now use the default setting for Zoom.

Thank you,

what version of SwingLine you rockin?

RE: SolidWorks 2014, 3dconnexion, Wireless SpaceNavigator, Zoom in/out Preference

The logitech and former 3dConnexion Developers are some of the least skilled individuals on the planet. I once tried contacting support but by the time they gave me an incorrect answer to my query I had already come up with my own solution in a ¼ the time they took. I was planning on getting a wireless "SPACE-KNOB" but the marketing info didn't mention they made the software even worse than usual. I may be able to hack out a solution for you since I know how the user##.scg s work probably better than their numbskull TechSupport people do.

I've tried nearly all the drivers on my iMac and only the spacepilot pro worked. You can download legacy drivers from the 3dX site as an option but they may not know the wireless device which is newer. Unless you can get this resolved and working 3DConnextion has lost me as a customer.

Maybe you should check out the following product from the inventor of the Spaceball 6dof mechanism.

Best of luck.

I should have clarified...
The reply I got from tech support on 1/9/14 solved the problem.
