Novec 1230 Gaseous System Venting
Novec 1230 Gaseous System Venting
(OP)
I can't seem to find the answer to this. Does the use of Novec 1230 require exhaust? My understanding is that inergen does not, FM200 does but all I can seem to find on Novec 1240 is that is has no impact on environment.

Can you give an NFPA reference or other where you see the FM200 is required to exhaust.
Thanks

"Q: Is there a requirement to have a dedicated ventilation system
to remove Novec 1230 fluid after a discharge?
A: An active mechanical process that is designed to remove Novec
1230 fluid/gas from the protected space is not required by any
of the recognized codes or standards. That said, the designer
of a system using Novec 1230 fluid may consider use of such a
ventilation system on a case-by-case basis if conditions warrant,
similar to what has been done in the past with halon."
RE: Novec 1230 Gaseous System Venting
There is no requirement within NFPA 2001 for a dedicated exhaust system when using DuPont™ FM-200®. NFPA requires that the post-extinguishment atmosphere be ventilated in a safe manner. With most installations, this can be accomplished by simply turning on the air handling units and allowing enough time to dissipate any smoke in a post-fire event.
Some jurisdictions have implemented additional local requirements concerning ventilation systems. You should check with your local authorities.

@cdafd : My original post wasn't very clear. I meant there are certain municipals in my area that require FM200 to be exhausted.
