Volumes in CATIA

Volumes in CATIA

Volumes in CATIA

(OP)
Inspired by the "Lock view in CATIA" thread. I know there's been a few threads about this before, but it's still pretty vague to me. Phrasing it this way might give more clarity.

Give me, please, 1-2 strong reasons for volumes in Catia.................!
Thanks!

RE: Volumes in CATIA

because you can mesh only the partbody... or any volumes

Who's bright idea was it that you can mesh only the PartBody, anyway?

RE: Volumes in CATIA

I think you're asking about Surface design(GSD workbench) vs. Volume(PD Workbench).

If so, one easy answer for me is "mass properties".
Keeping track of a components weight is critical and coding checks for it is pretty easy in solid design.

RE: Volumes in CATIA

Volumes are available in GSD workbench with GSO license.

PartDesign workbench work with (Part)Body.

Yes, I am referring to GSO license. Rumour has it they added this for one particular large OEM?

RE: Volumes in CATIA

I heard the same rumor.

RE: Volumes in CATIA

Personally, I have never found a use for the volumes but have suspected it would be good for designs involving fluids. This could be for visualization such as a container filled with liquid and for CFD analysis depicting the fluid domain.
