Thermal storage tank in chilled water system

Thermal storage tank in chilled water system

Thermal storage tank in chilled water system

(OP)

Dear Experts,

In a closed loop chilled water system with chiller, primary and secondary pumps, we have a thermal storage tank that can store chilled water. The water in the tank is maintained at 6.7deg.C and when chiller is out of service, water stored in the thermal storage tank will be the pumped to the load (AHU, FCU etc) by the secondary pumps.

Since this thermal storage is part of the closed loop pressurized line, how can we provide air venting at the time of initial line filling and maintaining the tank at same pressure as the chilled water line is. Can you please throw some light on the ports (inlet outlet, air vent, over flow drain pipe etc.

Regards,
Manu

RE: Thermal storage tank in chilled water system

when at least one valve is open, pressure will be the same in tank.

For venting the tank may have a vent?

RE: Thermal storage tank in chilled water system

no need to vent the tank. you can put automatic air vents in chilled water supply line

RE: Thermal storage tank in chilled water system

"how can we provide air venting at the time of initial line filling "
same when you fill a typical hydronic heating system

Vent at the high point of the system, like any other water system.
