Soil Nail Question

Soil Nail Question

Soil Nail Question

(OP)
Has anyone used the SNAP program for designing a soil nail wall? Is it a good program ?

It seems PEinc is pretty experienced with soil nail wall design.

What program would you think is the best out there for soil nail wall design?

RE: Soil Nail Question

SNAP looks like a good program to design s/n walls according to FHWA criteria. However, I believe that the current version does not handle multiple soil layers and therefore may be of limited value. I spoke to one of the authors who told me that they are going to update the program to handle multiple layer but haven't done so yet. Recently, I checked the download site and, I believe, the currently available version still designs for only one soil layer. Please correct me if I am wrong.

RE: Soil Nail Question

SNAIL is free but hard to find and download. Many use SNAIL.
Goldnail is good but not free and it hasn't been updated to work properly with newer computer operating systems.
I like using GSTABL7 from Garry Gregory.

RE: Soil Nail Question

Thank you, I use a combination of SNAIL and winSTABL. I was just wondering if SNAP was any good. I downloaded the program and it is a little wonky at times. Also, it appears there is an error in the nail testing portion of the program. I contacted the developers and they checked it out and indicated there is indeed an error in the coding for the nail testing calculation.
