Attachment to Cement-Fiber Decking

Attachment to Cement-Fiber Decking

(OP)
Hi All,
I have a project that requires the attachment of a rooftop solar array to a cement-fiber roof deck similar to a PetriCal product. Essentially wood fibers bound with Portland Cement. The deck is approximately 3" thick. Has anyone run into this type of decking and what did you use for fasteners? I was considering a thru-bolt connection with an 18 gage steel backing plate but I can find no documentation on allowable shear strength or screw pull out values. Thanks for the help.

Very similar to the Tectum Deck. I've checked their web site and didn't find anything regarding attachments directly to the material, unless I missed it.

RE: Attachment to Cement-Fiber Decking

I would assume you do not want to attach to that directly unless you get specific guidance from the manufacturer that says otherwise...
