Are Xylem/Flygt the best?

Are Xylem/Flygt the best?

Are Xylem/Flygt the best?

(OP)
Hello,

In our repair shop we do repairs of a lot of FLYGT pumps,I belive that your answer will be "yes", but actually I am looking for an alternative of FLYGT. Quality pumps that can replace them at good price.

The problem is that FLYGT have only one distributor in my country and the prices we recieve from them are terible high - for spare parts and new pumps also.
It is much cheaper when we import the parts from another country through a third company.

What would you do if you were in my situation?

Thank you in advance for your opinions!

RE: Are Xylem/Flygt the best?

Learn once and for all time ... that quality doesn't come cheap.

Why does the price matter to you? You have a repair shop. A client brings in a Flygt. Do you think he wants you replacing his original Flygt parts with cheap crap, or is it that you want to put in cheap crap and charge him for Flygt parts. Either way, you don't lose.

I hate Windowz 8!!!!

Hello,

Sorry maybe my english is not good enough to explain what the problem is.

For the quality FLYGT is FLYGT - the best. The problem is not that the FLYGT parts are expensive, they have their price and they deserve it.

The problem is that the ONLY ONE company in my country is absolute monopolist and the price which they give to us are unbeliveble high.
The reason is that we are kind of competitors on the market.

For example :
For the last mixer we repaired the full repair kit from the official distributor in my country was ~2000 euros
The price from another (richer county!) including the profit of third company from this country (because they are not allowed to sell to me directly) was 1000 euros including the transportation costs and the third company's accounting profit and even the delivery time was much shorter.

And it is not one ocasional case, but EVERY time when Flygt pump is here for repair.

I absolutely dont doubt to pay for the great FLYGT quality and support, but I will not pay for someone "smart ass" who manage to gain great profits because he is monopolist.

That is why I am forced to offer another solution.

1. The question is which is the second best manufacturer of such a equipment - your opinions?
Or do you have another ideas

Regards!

RE: Are Xylem/Flygt the best?

Skip the FLYGT distributor in your country and contact a FLYGT distributor from another country where the prices may be more competitive.

RE: Are Xylem/Flygt the best?

European free trade laws mean that you can buy a product from any distributor in the EU. Ask FLYGT for a list of their European distributors, then shop around to get the best deal.

Their is nothing wrong with a bit of competition.

RE: Are Xylem/Flygt the best?

Flygt has many competitors.

You need to research the русский standards amd determine what other brands of pumps have approval for importation into Россия.

RE: Are Xylem/Flygt the best?

If you are looking for a high quality, highly experienced supplier, KSB out of Germany, is the most logical choice to replace Flygt. You may end up with the same problem however, as KSB will have a rep in your country and they most likely will want to protect their parts/repair business by raising prices to local competitors (you).

Your options would be:
1) sit down with the "smart ass" and try to cut a deal to buy repair parts at reasonable prices; telling him you will start replacing the Flygt pumps every chance you get. If they will not agree at all, you may want to contact Xylem's Regional Manager for your area; there is a chance the "smart ass" may not be well thought of at Xylem and they will work with you direct.
2) If the Customers you are repairing pumps for are loyal to you, mention to them what the "smart ass" is doing and they might have some leverage to convince the "smart ass" to lower prices.
3) Look for another option for repair. Either use replicated parts (would have to be high quality), or replace the entire pump with another brand, KSB, etc.

Your problem is very, very common in the pump repair world; not just with your country and the "smart ass". If you consistently perform top quality repair work for customers, you will be able to succeed.....as the saying goes "there is more than one way to skin a smart ass".

Or to make it more clear in a country that loves sausages. It is the difference between a pig and a hog.

Pigs go to the market, Hogs go to slaughter

RE: Are Xylem/Flygt the best?

For Flygt a good alternative (in case of sewage pumps) will be KSB, Sulzer(ABS), Grundfos, Wilo. But all of "corporations" looks for results and with frame of this they finally don't have good policy for distributors. What do you guys think about Homa, Faggiolati, Caprari, Zenit pumps ? Some experiences ? I heard a lot of bad things about Zenit but good references for Homa, Faggiolati..

RE: Are Xylem/Flygt the best?

Sydney Water has Flygt, ABS, KSB and Grundfos in the system servicing 6 million people.Flygt used to dominate but are kept honest by the other brands. Other authorities in Australia would use a mixture of these brands.
