IGES Export Problems

IGES Export Problems

IGES Export Problems

(OP)
Hey y'all,

Due to a plugin issue with ANSYS, I cannot import a .prt or even a STEP file. My only hope at the moment is to import an IGES. However, I am having issues creating an IGES (NX7.5). I have a part file that contains a single solid body. I have checked and re-checked that it is a SOLID body and that it contains absolutely NO SHEET bodies. However, when I choose to export the single solid as an IGES, when I re-import the IGES to check it, it has turned into about 200 sheet bodies. I am not really sure what to do here. I have heard that IGES are not ideal due to inaccuracies, but I have had luck in the past.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

RE: IGES Export Problems

Have you switched on the Automatic Sewing of Surfaces on the Advanced tab when importing?

RE: IGES Export Problems

Something to check - export a parasolid from NX, then import it back in. Check to see if the 'one solid body' gets broken up due to the features used to create it. Also, make sure to check your Data to Export options in your Export to IGES menu in NX - make sure that surfaces is checked off and solids is checked on.
