Location of dew point in wall

Location of dew point in wall

(OP)
How can I calculate the location of the dew point in a wall, if I know the inside temeperature and RH, and the outside temperature and RH, and the materials comprising the wall? I know how to calculate the temperature gradient through the wall, but I don't know how to calculate the dew point location which I assume requires calculating the RH gradient through the wall. How is that done?

RE: Location of dew point in wall

Voodoo. Smoke and mirrors. I'm not overly confident in the accuracy of RH gradient calls. There are computer simulation programs that might be close (WUFI).

I posted this link to a lecture titled "Adventures in Building Science" back in November.

It addresses your question. The speaker makes some lame attempts at humor but makes some very good points.

RE: Location of dew point in wall

Composite pro - I just watched the video that you posted on Dec. 22. The most entertaining technical talk that I have ever seen. Thank you.
