(OP)
Hello,

Could someone explain the difference(s) between a wrought material and a forging material ?

Thanks a lot !

RE: API 6A - Wrought materials - Forgings

For basic information anybody can search the web.
Anyhow wrought means material which underwent plastic deformation (like rolling) at elevated temperature if in thick section.
Thin sections can be worked cold.
Forging material means raw material intended to be shaped by forging processes, either free (without special tools) or between sets of die tools at high temperature under hammers or presses.

Wrought means worked. For metals, it is used to indicate the material is not a casting.

All forgings are wrought. Rolled bars and shapes are also wrought, but usually not considered forgings.
