1 x 4 made of what material? And don't just say 'wood', as there is a large range of density in wooden products. Honestly...any 6th grade kid should be able to answer your question.

IT IS REDWOOD FROM EARLY 1900'S.

RE: roof skip sheathing

Engineering Toolbox gives me a density of 28 lbs/ft3 for American Redwood, 32 for European.

RE: roof skip sheathing

So, with that, what are the actual dimensions of a 1X4?

RE: roof skip sheathing

...from the early 1900's. Is it rough, or planed?

RE: roof skip sheathing

If the same planks were used for the Spruce Goose, then they were planed.

....and mostly birch, neither redwood nor spruce.
