Class 1 Div 2 Enclosed HMI?

Class 1 Div 2 Enclosed HMI?

Class 1 Div 2 Enclosed HMI?

(OP)
I need to enclose and HMI& Controller inside an enclosure which is to reside in a Class 1 Div 2 environment. The HMI & Controller is not Class 1 Div 2. How can I do this and still maintain Class 1 Div 2? The HMI will not be mounted on the enclosure's lid but inside the enclosure such that the operator will need to open the box to view it.

RE: Class 1 Div 2 Enclosed HMI?

OOPS. Put in an RFI - owner probably is overly conservative in the area classification. As you suspect, the only way that controller will meet Div-2 is to bolt it into an explosionproof box, and never open that box - just look at it thru the tiny [& dirty] window. Baring the above, it has to mount outside the classified area.
