Replace extractn nozles on antracity, zeolite filters adds capacity?
Replace extractn nozles on antracity, zeolite filters adds capacity?
(OP)
I was told that by replacing the bottom extraction nozles on antracite filters and Zeolite filters , you can increase the capacity.
The replacement sugested was to change the slot opening type nozle by the wound wire type.
can anybody help me on this.
I thing other factors have a key roll in capacity of operation like velocity trought the bed, bed hight, etc
Thanks

RE: Replace extractn nozles on antracity, zeolite filters adds capacity?
Any improvement in performance would most likely be measured in improving the ablity to remove suspended solids during the service cycle and then to adequately remove the filtered solids from the filtration media during the backwash/cleaning cycle. A properly designed distributor will produce even cross sectional flow through the filter media during the service cycle, and even flow distribution up through the filter media during the backwash/cleaning cycle.
Distribution design is partially experiece, some theory, and a lot of black magic. Equipment manufacturers accomplish even distribution through the placement of the flow nozzles, flow per nozzle (pressure drop), and nozzle design. I have seen the two types of distributor nozzles your refer to. They are essentially equals. One has slots cut into a nozzle design, the other takes a "wire" (whether plastic or stainless steel) and wraps it around a support structure. At the end of the day, you have flow through a slotted opening in both designs. The slot is just produced by two different manufacturing methods.
Hope this helps

Your comments are very helpfull
I think at the end of the day
there are not free lunchs in equipment desing.
