show centers and centerlines.

show centers and centerlines.

Hello.

Where is the setting to always show the center of circles at sketches, and the centerlines of cylinders?
I mean without PMI, and outside the drafting, just while modelling.
In NX8.5 and NX6.

RE: show centers and centerlines.

I assume that you're talking about displaying arc centers and cylinder centerlines as symbols, correct? I mean, you're not looking for how to create point geometry at the center of a circle or drawing a line along the centerline of a cylinder, correct?

Without using PMI or when not creating a Drawing, I'm not aware of how you would go about doing this.

I mean that whenever I create a circle (at sketch) or a cylinder (body) it will automatically show the center and centerline and leave it plotted, without needing to add it later in a second step adding points or lines manually.

RE: show centers and centerlines.

Are you talking about in the model and NOT a Drawing? If so, then go back and reread my repsonse.

Hi skanskan,
Although not sure but for the time being i presume your query is regarding Modeling environment. We hardly require these entities (centers or centerlines) for any downstream opeartion (measurement may be) as the selection options already enables that OOTB.In addition these extra entities may further clutter your working space and your part navigator too. Is there anything i am missing (any specific methodology of yours i am not aware of)? Do let us know.
Otherwise for centerlines for cylindrical bodies (or any revolved body) you can use EXTRACT VIRTUAL CURVE (it allows multiple selection also)

kapmnit123, Hello, and hello for your suggestion about "extract virtual curve", it could be a good idea, though you need to repat it for every centerline.
I understand your point that showing all lines could clutter the screen and in general is not needed.

In I-Deas showing these "centerlines" as a display filter was really nice. You could turn these centerlines in the model on and off with display filters. This is one thing we really miss in NX. The biggest thing we used these centerlines for is to make sure all holes are lined up and on center with each other. It was a good visual check to make sure your holes are on center with each other.
