Plumbness test equipment

Plumbness test equipment

(OP)
Hello Everyone!

What is the latest technology for measuring plumbness of a field erected vertical storage tank? Is there a laser type equipment approved by standards to determine plumbness of a vertical storage tank?

RE: Plumbness test equipment

The old fashioned way still works - plumbing pole and water level but the laser scanning method is gaining ground. The standards do not review or approve the method of measuring plumbness.

RE: Plumbness test equipment

Make sure any instrumentation [transit, total station, scanner, etc.] is currently calibrated. Without calibration, all of your measurements are suspect.

Thus my preference for a plumbbob dropped into a bucket of water - by definition, it is perfectly accurate.
