Deformable part

Deformable part

(OP)
Hello,
Making a deformable part with a tube in assembly works fine, but when I try this with a different shape strange things happen.
The shape deforms and the sweep starts at the position where the original has been created and not on the curve in the assembly. Is there anywhere a good tutorial how this works or does this only work with tube.

NX 8.5.1.3

Thanks

RE: Deformable part

This is very dependent on both how the original feature was created and which referenced items are you asking to be selected when placing the Deformable Part in an Assembly as a Component. In other words, without the actual part file there isn't much that anyone could do for you in the way of advice.

RE: Deformable part

What type of shape are you trying to sweep?
Are you sweeping it along a spline, curves, edges, sketch?
Are you using sweep along a guide, swept or routing?

OK, I think I see what's happening. Your 'Cable' should have been created using a 'Sweep along Guide' feature rather than a 'Swept' feature. Look at the attached files to see if this is what you were expecting.

Hi John,

I also had tried 'Sweep along Guide' but my problem was that i forgot to include the coordinate system for the direction of the sketch.
I saw this in your attached file.

Everything works fine now, thank you.
