ABAQUS 6.12 - a local orientation system

ABAQUS 6.12 - a local orientation system

ABAQUS 6.12 - a local orientation system

(OP)
Hi,

I have a quarter model which stands for an entire model of a rectangular plate with a centered hole. I used the orthotropic anisotropic material and defined those 11 constants (c, D, b1111, b2222, b.......). I also set two symmetric boundary conditions for left and bottom sides of the model and two negative pressure loads (stretching) applying on the other two sides. However, I got an error which said

"Anisotropic material properties without a local orientation system have been defined for 99 elements. Anisotropic material properties must be defined in a local orientation system. The elements are identified in element set ErrElemAnisotropicMaterial."

What does it mean? I'm wondering if anyone can solve this problem.

Thanks for your help!

SH

RE: ABAQUS 6.12 - a local orientation system

It means you have to define an orientation, check out the *orientation keyword in the manual. Also in *solid section you have a parameter ",local orientations=X" (or similar)
