catia v5 measurement
catia v5 measurement
(OP)
Hi all. im fairly new to v5 and trying to get a measurement in v5 that i cant seem to produce. heres the scenario. if i have a part that is in an iso view i want to measure a distance that would be either vertical or horizontal true to the screen in that iso view. ive tried to see if i can create a plane axis or any type of geometry that i could use as a vector and am unsuccessful. if anyone is familiar with ug/nx it would be as easy as snapping the wcs (compass in v5) true to the screen and nx will give the horiz and vert valeus based on the new wcs position. any help will be appreciated.
thanks
thanks

I do not get your last tip........Could you explain it in detail for me please?

RE: catia v5 measurement
1 create axis and use Lock Privilege plane orientation parallel to screen, switch main direction to get it vertical
2 create line pt-direction using compass direction
3 create axis with Z using line direction
4 create extremum points on solide using line as main direction
5 get distance using new axis
here max vertical distance is 8.49328in
You can get same result with API if you need. Check viewpoint3D to get vertical direction...

and go to select "compass direction" in the "direction window" in the pop up window and it snaps to "components" not "compass direction"
RE: catia v5 measurement
2: with compass Lock privilege plane orientation parallel to screen
3: with compass make UW the privilege plane
(or whatever direction that will work)
4: create line point dir using compass direction
This will get the direction from the compass to the line in terms of component. You don't want a line link with the compass!
