Distortions in Contour plot of DOF soln in ANSYS (Composites)

Distortions in Contour plot of DOF soln in ANSYS (Composites)

(OP)
Hello Everybody,

I've been doing structural analysis of Composite plate using the element SOLID46. It's a quarter-plate method where the plate has 16 layers symmetric about the thickness.
The dimensions are 100 x 100 x 2.032 mm and fine to coarse meshing was used.

Symmetric boundary conditions along X and Y axis were applied to two edge surfaces of the plate while a structural displacement uniform load of 1 mm was applied to the other two surface edges.

In General PostProc, the Contour plot of DOF solution along X direction resulted in distortions along the edges where structural displacement uniform load were applied. It also occurs along Y direction.

I'm not able to account for this distortions.
Ansys APDL was used for the entire procedure.

Thank you
