WMHAZ vs. weld beads
WMHAZ vs. weld beads
(OP)
Ok so I have been given a question to answer and it is as follows:
There are two pictures one of Tig cold wire and one of Tig hot wire macrographs that show the weld beads. I am asked if the number of WMHAZ = the number of weld beads minus one. I need help figuring out what this means. I can't find anything that talks about this relationship being true nor do I know how to determine whether it is true. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have spent a lot of time searching the internet for this relationship.

RE: WMHAZ vs. weld beads
Whats WMHAZ?
RE: WMHAZ vs. weld beads
Taking a guess I would say Weld Metal Heat Affected Zone but I feel the same way as you - haven't a clue what the question is ?
Cheers,

RE: WMHAZ vs. weld beads
Anyway, assuming that WMHAZ means indeed "Weld Metal Heat Affected Zone" as suggested, one could say that the number of retempered weld beads is indeed the number of beads minus one, as the HAZ of the last bead would remain untempered (by a successive bead).
Whatever that may mean.
