Hi,
I'm looking for a material with a high thermal expansion rate in the temperatur range of -20 to 30 celsius.
My challenge is to find a material type that can be made into a band/"rope".

Anyone with a good suggestion?

What is high? 10x steel coefficient? How to separate the potential temperature-dependent Young's modulus elastic deformation of a rope from the thermal growth? A little discussion of the problem might help.

What I'm looking for is materials that have the highest thermal expansion rate in the temp range of -20 and 30 degrees celsius, which is also formable and can be used to create a band.

That would be rubber, but I doubt that is what you are looking for. You can make devices, like wax motors, that behave the way you want, but not one material.
