Tower Crane Infill

Tower Crane Infill

Tower Crane Infill

(OP)
I have an 11'x11' tower crane opening in a PT slab that i will need to infill.

The existing drawings for the building do not address this condition, and the slab edge is currently not observable.

Before I can verify the condition, my detail will need to assume something, and therefore, Ive assumed that there are form saver connectors along the edge.

Can anyone tell me if I would need to specify a non-shrink mix for this infill?

I will specify "roughen, clean and apply bonding agent of exist surface."

Any other special considerations?

RE: Tower Crane Infill

Most likely there are connectors for the reinforcement. There must be some documentation, maybe in the project correspondence or RFI's. Why don't you ask the responsible design engineer? I would forget the bonding agent, they too often act to debond if the timing is a bit off.

RE: Tower Crane Infill

11' x 11' is a bit large opening.
For infills about 6 to 7 feet in width in reinforced concrete slab, we have used normal weight concrete + sawcutting the edges
about 3/4" sloped to form dovetail like shape and used drilled in anchors around the four edges.
