Referenced part name does not show up in title block

Referenced part name does not show up in title block

Referenced part name does not show up in title block

(OP)
I have a title block that is supposed to display the name of the reference part in the drawing. This works fine when I created the drawing from new (using a reference template), but I noticed that when I delete this initial part and import another part reference the referenced part name is no longer displayed in the title block. Also, in the assembly navigator the referenced part is being displayed with some weird icon behind the little cube in front of the part name.

My guess is this icon has probably something to do with the part name not showing up in the title block. Does anybody know what this icon means and how I can reference the part so that it is displayed again in the title block? Preferably without having to delete the drawing views that I have created.

Many thanks in advance!

RE: Referenced part name does not show up in title block

Master Model Drawings reference the Active Part model at the time the Drawing Template was applied, even if you delete the original referenced, or 'primary', part by deleting the Ccmponent and adding a new one. This new replacement part will still be considered as a 'secondary' reference, hence the different icon. And before you ask, I'm not aware of any way to force the system to use the 'secondary' part as the new 'primary' model.

Thanks for the answer, so you're telling me there is really no other way then to recreate the drawing from scratch?

Can you post a pic of the strange icon you are seeing?

RE: Referenced part name does not show up in title block

You have imported a 'reference' view from the other part. In essence, the part does not exist as a component in your assembly, just a view of it; this is why it does not show up in your title block and/or parts list.

Rather than "delete(ing) this initial part and import(ing) another part" try doing a 'Replace Component' instead.
