Replacing template in existing drawings
Replacing template in existing drawings
(OP)
Is it possible to replace the template of an existing drawing in NX 8.5? I have replaced the master template file, when I load existing drawings based on this template I don't see the modifications made to the template. The changes do appear when I make a new drawing based on the modified template.
Does this mean NX only "looks" at the master template file at the moment the new drawing is being made and it becomes part of the drawing file it self once the new drawing has been saved? Therefore any changes made to the template file do not reflect in the existing drawing?
If so, is there a way to replace or reload the template of existing drawings?

RE: Replacing template in existing drawings
If you have made the changes to the customer defaults, you can use the "load defaults" or "load all defaults" to change the part preferences to match the customer default preferences.

Have you used pattern or the new title block born with NX8 ?
If pattern, there is an option in the customer default that set the automatic pattern update on drawings loading.
If you have used the new title block born with NX8, you need a custom journal that I've, but incomplete, that perform this.
Thank you...
Using NX 8 and TC9.1
RE: Replacing template in existing drawings
Go the the layer containing the old title block and delete the old title block. Copy and paste the new title block from the template file. It's important that at this point the title block is still a table and not yet a title block, otherwise NX does not allow copy/paste. Once the table is pasted into the existing drawing, turn it into a title block and populate it.
Done. Thanks for looking into this.
