Offshore jacket verticality tolerance (offshore)

Offshore jacket verticality tolerance (offshore)

Offshore jacket verticality tolerance (offshore)

(OP)
Hello all,

I work in the offshore industry, in particular on pile foundation steel jackets.

The particular jacket I'm working on has a installation tolerance for verticality of 0.5 degree. This is a typical value.

In the past, I have never analysed the verticality tolerance for in. I've assumed that it is accounted for in the safety factors in the design code, just like I do not analyse out-of-roundness of jacket members as the fabrication tolerance is part of the safety factors in the design code.

Now the independent verification body is suggesting that the verticality tolerance should be explicitly analysed by simulating an additional CoG offset.

Any ideas? Any jacket engineers can tell me what they have been doing?
