Calculating Bolt Tensioning

Calculating Bolt Tensioning

Calculating Bolt Tensioning

(OP)
Can anyone point me in the correct code to calculate bolt tension. I've previously used PCC-1 to calculate bolt torque values but have come upon a situation where tensioning is required by the client and I can't find any equations to help. This is for a 300lb 36" Series B flange with 1 5/8" dia bolts.

RE: Calculating Bolt Tensioning

Why can't you use PCC-1 for tensioning? Aren't you calculating a bolt stress...???

RE: Calculating Bolt Tensioning

Maybe I'm missing something but the equation in PCC-1 is for torque.

RE: Calculating Bolt Tensioning

An input for the Appendix J or K calculations in PCC-1 is the target bolt load, F.

That's your target tension.
