Fire Compliance ICAO

Fire Compliance ICAO

Fire Compliance ICAO

(OP)
Hi,

I am involved in the upgrading of various airports in Africa.

One of the terms of reference is to get the aerodromes ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) compliant.

The problem pertains fire fighting compliance.

We are done with the compliance which deals with operations , i.e. number of firetrucks, amounts of water required, etc.

We are specifically looking for requirements which deal with hangars, arrival/departure areas, car parks and any other ancillary buildings an airport may have.

Since it is Africa, stability of supply of water is questionably and so is the efficiency of the local fire brigade.

Questions:
1. Are there any ICAO requirements we may have overlooked?
2. Are there ISO, BSS, Eurocode, SABS/SANS codes which specifically address airports?

I have looked at the NFPA (USA) website and they have a lot of information, it seems. We would prefer to use standards from either Europe or South Africa in this case.

Thanx for any help

Sandy
