Sending two Parts to a Sub Assy

Sending two Parts to a Sub Assy

Sending two Parts to a Sub Assy

(OP)
I have a (3) parts assy (weldment), Parts A,B,C.

I decide I want Parts B & C to be seperate sub-weldment, and placed in the parent weldment, without losing constraints. My thought was to
1.) save the top level weldment as is
2.) delete item C, leaving the constraints and parts B,C
3.) Save-as a new sub-weldment number
4.) open original top level weldment (still parts A,B,C)
5.) replace item B with sub-weldment number, thinking NX would find some of the identifying features and keep the original mates, and I would not have to constrain again
6.) Delete parts B & C

But NX will not let me substitute. Easier way to accomplish this?

Thanks ahead of time.
