Hello Pal

Need some insights with this messages, but I have to clarify first my input I have space frame that I use plate load instead of floor load to get away with stiffness of slab connected to frame, what happen my whole length beams were divided into sub-beam 1 meter in length, as soon a run the analysis got no errors and warning but I have this messages that its look for me a big trouble

** LOCATION FOR DESIGN FOR SHEAR AT START OF MEMBER 407 IS BEYOND
THE MIDPOINT OF MEMBER. DESIGN FOR SHEAR AND TORSION NOT PERFORMED.

** LOCATION FOR DESIGN FOR SHEAR AT END OF MEMBER 407 IS BEYOND
THE MIDPOINT OF MEMBER. DESIGN FOR SHEAR AND TORSION NOT PERFORMED.

This notably all sub beams that is adjacent to sub-beam that is attach to node with column, the latter though has shear bars design alright.

Your Help is much appriciated.

RE: Staad Pro messages

Could be an input error (wrong coordinate or sign) or just one of many quirks of this software. I haven't used it in 15 years...it was too "buggy" for my taste! I assume it has gotten better, but who knows.

RE: Staad Pro messages

Check the design parameters. input the right value for the SFACE which should not be more than 0.5 the beam length. Structurally, it should be between 0 and d

RE: Staad Pro messages

What is the span to depth ratio of the beam. If the beam is 48" deep and only spans 24 inches, then the shear design (which should be performed at a distance 'd' from the face of support) would be greater than the mid-span of the member.

Thanks to reply Pals

Will I have the parameter before eface and add sface later skeptic that it is the root cause, I assigned 0.8m before if I recall it right because my beam depth is 800 mm, got the messages mentioned change it to 1 m, got the same messages remove the parameter re-run got the same messages. on the other hand my depth is 800 mm and length were 4 meter the shortest. I will try again applying and checking with your in-put.

Thanks a lot..
