ANSYS - Updating a single layer material property

ANSYS - Updating a single layer material property

(OP)
Hi Everyone,

I am creating a model to look at the progressive failure of composite panels using ANSYS shell 181. Once ply failure has occurred I want to modify the material properties of the failed laminar which I have set up as material 2 or material 3 depending upon failure type. The issue I am having is I can not seem to individually change the material properties of a single layer defined in shell-layup without the whole list of layers being updated. Is there a way to do this individually or another method entirely?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
