Looking for a very economical way to sweeten up a gas/vapor stream that is really low pressure. My thoughts were to use MDEA with a few fogging nozzles and then knock out the liquid downstream. Any comments or personal experience with this? I guess what I am really wondering is if you could get adequate contact to remove the H2S or if the contact efficiency would be so terrible that you'd have to use enormous amounts of MDEA?

This should work reasonably well - as dcasto suggested, it will approach the equilibrium effect of a single theoretical stage. You could probaby simulate this at about 30% efficiency and see if this is enough for your application. The H2S reaction is instantaneous however, the spray nozzle and subsequent atomization of the amine will create a lot of surface area and you may experience foaming. Try and do a prefilter on your gas.
