inconel 718 yield of 150ksi

inconel 718 yield of 150ksi

I need a replacement material for a downhole tool. I need a non magnetic material that cannot become magnetized. Our 17-4 is becoming magnetic due to the coils near them. Can inconel 718 become magnetized over time given the electrical circumstances around it? I need it to be 150ksi which means it will be PH hardened I assume? Does this change anything that I would have to worry about?

thanks

RE: inconel 718 yield of 150ksi

718 is non-ferromagnetic. Both annealed and in the aged condition.
Aged most product forms are 150ksi min Yield and 180ksi min UTS.

Permeability at 200 oersted and 70°F
Annealed Material..............................................................1.0013
Annealed and Aged Material .............................................1.0011

If you want something that will stay non-magnetized then it must be non-ferromagnetic. Your 17-4PH is ferromagnetic all of the time.

thanks Ed. The 718 seems like the way to go due to the yield strengths I need. We use some HS NIT50 and K500monels. None of it is cheap. Thanks again. We even once upon a time used mp35 for housings until it became as much as gold.

RE: inconel 718 yield of 150ksi

We have supplied AL-6XN cold worked to high strength for housings, and Nitronic 40.
Cold worked 625 may also be an option.
What tube size are you after?
