Reference set issue

Reference set issue

Reference set issue

(OP)
I have one issue in NX. When I open an assembly, some child parts are not loading. When I click on the small box, it is giving error "This component cannot be made visible. It is an excluded reference set". I red some threads regarding this issue, people are suggesting that changing reference set into "Entire part" solves the issue. But I am not getting that option "Replace Reference Set" when I right click on the child part. Please some help me how to resolve this issue. Thanks.

RE: Reference set issue

Start at the lowest level of your structure and work up with opening the entire part reference set.

This is one of the reasons that reference sets are NOT recommended for assemblies.

RE: Reference set issue

Have you turn on the assembly application ?
If yes, RMB on the component and change the reference set.

Thank you...

Using NX 8 and TC9.1

But I am not getting that option "Replace Reference Set" when I right click on the child part.

The problem is, the component (child part) is excluded from the assembly's current reference set. Change the reference set of the assembly to "entire part"; or edit the assembly's reference set to use the "add components automatically" option.

RE: Reference set issue

This is one the biggest reasons why you should NEVER use any other Reference Set than 'Entire Part' when adding a Sub-Assembly to a higher level assembly.

Reference Sets were NOT designed to control the content of a Sub-Assembly, but rather to define which geometric objects were to be included when adding a PIECE PART, as a Component, to an Assembly. If you wish to control the content, that is which Components are included or not included in a Sub-Assembly, when added to a higher level Assembly, you should be looking at using Arrangements.
