Timoshenko beam analysis in ANSYS

Timoshenko beam analysis in ANSYS

(OP)
hello everyone,
I am a beginner in ANSYS and I am working on Timoshenko beam. I have been using beam189 for the evaluation, but i am not able to view the shear stress being generated in the cross section. it keeps telling Sxy and Sxz 0. Can someone please tell me how to design and evaluate timoshenko beam in ANSYS Mechanical APDL. it is important and urgent.
Thank you.

I have attached a snap of the current design which i am not able to evaluate properly.

RE: Timoshenko beam analysis in ANSYS

If you've defined the element using the arbitrary section option ("ASEC") then you cannot view the shears as a contour ie these will appear to be zero. Go to the ANSYS manual page for BEAM189, it is explained here.

Thank you for replying drej, but I'm using either the rectangular or the I section. But still can't view the shear stress. I will keep trying. thanx again. :)
