Given Crane Maximum Wheel Load

Given Crane Maximum Wheel Load

Given Crane Maximum Wheel Load

(OP)
Hello community. I am curious..

I have done quite a few bridge crane girder designs. Typically, I will receive a preliminary "cut sheet" of the crane that supplies the information I need (wheel base dimension, bridge weight, cmaa classification, etc.) Typically, the max wheel load in included. I have noticed that the max wheel load supplied is typically less than what I would calculate using the IBC..

anyone have any idea why this is? I err on the side of conservative, and use the higher value..but I don't want to be over-designing if there is indeed something I am missing..Anyone else notice this?

Thanks.
