Subgrade Modulus

Subgrade Modulus

(OP)
I have a geotechnical report for a project that didn't include the subgrade modulus. It did include an elastic modulus. Is there a relationship between the two?

RE: Subgrade Modulus

There is a correlation between the modulusof subgrade reaction and CBR value.

RE: Subgrade Modulus

If you have the Bowles handbook there are a couple of relationships, sorry now I do not have it at hand can write them later if someone doesn't do that in the meanwhile.
If the poisson modulus value is small (little mobilized strenght in sands and not saturated clays), then ks~=E/B in homogeneous units

RE: Subgrade Modulus

FAttdad I don't know the CBR relationship.
DCBII I saw you did not confirm nor deny having the Bowles foundation analysis handbook.

RE: Subgrade Modulus

Actually, a coworker of mine has the Bowles Foundation book. I found the relationship in there. Thank you for your help.

RE: Subgrade Modulus

chart 10 on page 16 provides correlation between CBR and modulus of subgrade reaction. This is not the source, but it was an easy google search, so here's your reference.
