Add another nozzle to the pipe of a nozzle of a pressure vessel?

Add another nozzle to the pipe of a nozzle of a pressure vessel?

(OP)
Hi All,

I have a question. Is it possible to add another nozzle to the pipe of a nozzle of a pressure vessel according to ASME Section VIII Div 1? And if so, in which section of ASME mentioned about this? UG ? UW? Thanks.

RE: Add another nozzle to the pipe of a nozzle of a pressure vessel?

Depends;- ASME VIII-1 code limit is the first circular weld after the nozzle neck weld into the shell/head. Typically, that's the circular weld of the nozzle neck to the flange. If you have an extension to the nozzle neck, a pipe length welded to the nozzle neck for extension, then any weld of pipe branch to this pipe extension is treated as a piping item under the code of the piping connected to your nozzle.
Hope this helps,
